Welding

CAD-2-FAB handles welding work for various fabrication and repair needs in our shop. We run both TIG and MIG processes depending on the application—TIG for precision work where weld appearance matters or when working with thin materials, MIG for production welding where speed and deposition rate take priority. Material-wise, we work with the common shop standards: mild steel for general fabrication, stainless for corrosion resistance or food-grade applications, and aluminum for weight-critical assemblies. Each requires different techniques, filler materials, and shielding gases to get proper penetration and bead quality.

Our welding work ranges from simple repairs to complete fabricated assemblies. This might be building frames and brackets from raw stock, joining machined components into finished assemblies, or repairing cracked or broken parts. The finishing aspect is often overlooked but makes a difference in the final product—grinding welds flush where needed, maintaining consistent bead appearance on visible joints, and cleaning heat discoloration from stainless steel.
